One casualty of High Sierra is Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac. Here are links to the Mac App Store where the latest version can be found: Would you believe that some Apple apps need to be updated to a new version to work properly with macOS High Sierra? While the iWork apps (Pages, Keynote, and Numbers), built-in apps (Mail, Safari, etc…) and iLife (iMovie, Photos, GarageBand, etc…) apps are working well with High Sierra, the Pro apps need to be updated to the latest versions. There are cool features in Photos and Notes, and Safari 11 has controls for autoplay videos. High Sierra is mostly an under-the-hood upgrade that sets the Mac up for the future. Features: Breakthrough Speed and Quality New 64-bit architecture supports deeper, multilayered effects for use in Final Cut Pro. Or create your own dazzling animations in 2D or 3D space, with real-time feedback as you work. Motion is designed for video editors, Motion 5 lets you customize Final Cut Pro titles, transitions, and effects. If for some reason you’ve had to skip from the prior servers, you’re good to get it from MediaFire server if you want. MacOS High Sierra (One Full – Google Drive): This is the virtual image installer file of High Sierra that is available for free. The file is compressed, secure and ready. In order to get today’s free updates for Final Cut Pro, Motion and Compressor, your Mac must be running 10.13.2 or newer. Unsurprisingly, some Rocket Yard readers have reported that specific apps are not playing well with High Sierra. Don't "break" the smb.conf file - the file that QNAP has in there right now works perfectly for writing a library across the SMB network from your Mac to the QNAP.There’s nothing like the release of a new operating system to put apps to the test. There is an old expression "knows enough to be dangerous". This has been the case for quite some time now, and works without issue. This means that you don't have to create sparse disk images, or use NFS anymore. FCP X works wonderfully with the QNAP, and as long as you are running some version of QTS 4.3, you can write FCP Libraries across the SMB network to the QNAP without issue. If you have, and things are not working for you, my best suggestion is to reload your firmware (do an update, or downgrade - the updates are constantly coming out), and this will reload your OS. So don't go in there with SSH and modify the lines of code. The exact line of code that Apple put in the FCP X 10.3 doc for shared storage is not correct for the QNAP, and QNAP has modified this to work in the QNAP OS. Does someone know of simple instructions (youtube or elsewhere) which show a non-expert how to make such a change? It would seem QNAP staff could provide Final Cut Pro Users with some kind of fix easily if there is sufficient demand for help.Įver since QTS 4.3, QNAP has followed the Apple document with SAMBA (which is currently 4.4.3) and the smb.conf file mods. I am not a skilled network administrator and cannot figure out how to do this using my Mac. Your network administrator must add the following line to the : It instructs me to edit the smb.conf file as follows (quoting)Ī NAS system using SMB running on a Linux system for use with Final Cut Pro X 10.3 requires Samba 4.3.4 or later. You can use Disk Utility resize the volume.Īpple has released the following in March of this year: Double clicking this gives you what looks like an external drive in the Finder, in effect, a "faux" external drive. A work around, which I am using, is to create a Sparce Bundle Image using Disk Utility on one of the QNAP storage volumes. Until recently, FCPX did not support shared network storage. I am running FCPX 10.3.3 (the latest version as of 4/15/17) on a Mac under OSX 10.12.4.
